Seen this one before although very poor quality.
East Bank seems to have no centre fence ?
North Stand seems to have an awnamental fence with spikes
Comedy pen at the end.
Some people were on the pitch... they think it's all over :P

No need for a centre fence in those days; never any trouble then. We all got on famously. :P

That style of ornamental fence (less the spikes and taller) was at the front and back of the ground forming the perimeter fencing to The Rec.

Elf and Safety wouldn't allow spikey fences these days.

Me too and a very rare match televised by Southern TV, love to have got a copy of this but long before most of us had home VCR's alas. The Southern library was sold to another company in the early 1990's I believe and a lot of material was just junked including this match :(

When I first went to the Rec some 38 x years ago next week, there was a single centre dividing fence on the East Bank and that was all that kept supporters apart. Not that I ever got involved, but spitting, grabbing and the occasional punch was possible (and I saw it) between the gaps in the railings! I can also remember watching and listening to bizarre conversation between a Shots skinhead and an away skinhead through the fence (can't remember from which team) about their mutual membership of the BNP! I think the actual fence is still there and forms part of the "sterile" area on the East Bank.

The ornamental fence was quite a feature of the North Stand and seemed to amplify the fact the Rec was actually a public park! Don't remember the spikes, but they were obviously there as the video shows. I think the ornamental fences went about 1987-88 time.

One thing that I've always wanted to know is when the turnstiles at the back of the South Stand and North Stand stopped being used? All disused and still standing from a bygone era!

One upon a time the whole East Bank was unsegregated.
Not sure when a central fence was installed - probably late 70's.
Fondly remember sharing the East Bank with hoardes of Bristol Rover supporters on the day that the front fence collapsed.
