Ricky Miller

Postby 86/87 Glory Year » Tue Apr 18, 2017 8:41 am

Watched him closely yesterday. I thought you could see his ability to give himself a yard on the defence to give himself a shooting chance. Having said that Callum and Will reduced him to very little and both were outstanding. For such a prolific goalscorer it seems strange he has only played about 12 games in the football league for Luton and is 28 years old. The rest of his career he has been scraping around in non league. Wonder where he will be next season?

Miller has had a troubled past off the pitch, I believe he signed for Dover while he had a court case looming. You'll find the odd Dover fan that thinks Miller owes them everything for giving him a lifeline. I can't see them being able to keep hold of Miller next season. He will be at a top league two team next season at the very least, he may be able to cut it at league one.

I found it very odd that he joined the Shots fans for a beer at the Crimea after the match

Didn't travel back on the Dover team coach either, left the pub in a convoy of cars...

Seemed very interested in our players celebrations up the Eastbank at full time too as he stood around watching rather than mingling with his team...

Perhaps his next club is the Shots :?:

well, Miller's seeking a decent crowd, we're seeking goals

On the goal front, Ogwu banged in his 20th of the season y'day - a pen in the 94th minute to give woking a win at chester.

He obviously has "issues" off the pitch otherwise a Football League club would have signed him in the window - i believe Luton let him go for disciplinary reasons. Obviously just based on footballing ability , it would be a no brainer to take him but as the Wadfather usually looks into a players character, I doubt we will see him here.

On 27 April 2015, Miller and team-mate Shaun Whalley were both arrested by Bedfordshire Police in connection with an alleged assault following Luton Town's end of season awards night. Both were released on bail, but were suspended by the club pending a police inquiry. Miller was later released from his Luton contract early following his arrest. On 3 June 2015, Miller was charged with five offences in connection to the assault.

On 30 June 2015, Miller signed for Conference National side Dover Athletic on a two-year contract. In December of the same year he was cleared of the charges in the assault case.

Never really been given a proper chance at football league, Luton being his only opportunity before being released. His 62 goals in 101 games for Dover suggests he has earned a proper chance, I'm sure he is going to get it now.

Didn't rate him, he was easily dealt with by our defence.
If we sign anybody, it should be someone who can win there fair share of headers.
It's been a long time since we have had the likes of Howarth/ Sills.
