Good grief, I may be no groundsman and I certainly wouldn't hold my lawn up as an example of a good surface but if I had just laid turf in my garden last week I would be still trying to avoid walking on it never mind playing football on it.

I may be wrong but I am sure that a couple of years ago a club playing a Pre season game against Wycombe had the game stopped shortly after kick off by the Ref because the turf laid in some areas of the pitch started to come up and that would be very dangerous to the players, in the case I am thinking of that had been laid more than a week before and according to the Wimbledon statement Eastleigh's was only finished the day before.

I think Wimbledon have probably called this one right

Does make you wonder why, when they've had all summer to relay their pitch, they choose to do it a day before their first pre-season friendly. A bit amateurish and unprofessional in my opinion.

I would imagine they would have had quite a few Pompey supporters going to that one too. At least they have the Alton game to look forward to.

'Sod it' maybe? Did they lay it the right way up, 'The grass is always greener on the other side'?

Not just the Portsmouth friendly but Newport as well. They've really cocked up on this one haven't they.

Oh dear. What a terrible thing to happen. And it couldn't have happened to a nicer, more genuine community club.

All those entirely fictitious 1800 home supporters who turned up to see the Shots will be very disappointed that they won't be needed not to turn up to watch Pompey....
