Manny's Tackle

Postby somelikeithot » Sun Nov 12, 2017 10:11 am

Do we have a slowed down video of Manny's tackle?
Wasn't two footed from my angle.
He took the ball first cleanly and can only assume his studs were showing when his follow through took the man.
Otherwise a yellow not a red.
GW hinted he might appeal.

Trouble is that phrases like "two footed" and "studs up" don't appear in the laws of the game. The referee merely has to decide whether the challenge endangered the safety of the opponent. And on that front I think Manny may be in trouble.

Just watched Kappas slo mo on twitter.

Correct decision for the red, IMO.

2 footed. Can't go in like that nowadays.

Manny didn't need to do it either. They didn't have possession in a dangerous area.

Just 1 of many things the referee got right on the day.

Too many red cards these days full stop but can never understand a 2 footed tackle, sending off 50 years ago let a lone now!

Looked a definite red to me but that is 1 position we do have plenty of cover, McDonnell,Kellerman and Gallagher.

I thought it was a booking at worst when I saw it yesterday and I haven't changed my mind after seeing the video

2 footed. Can't do it. Didn't need to do it. Silly.

Manny will be back though, that is for sure :!:

Looking at the replay it looks like Manny clearly took the ball rather than the man. His feet on the ground as well, never a red.

Agree to disagree but his left foot is firmly on the ground until the last moment and he only makes contact with his right foot that wasn’t over the ball or dangerous and he won the ball first anyway.
