I always pick up my season ticket on the day of the first home match

What's your problem?
Gosh Ancient I’ve always picked my ticket up from the club office on my way to the pub ....at the first home game. It seems I have to panic now and drive up from Exmoor to secure my prize in a three hour ‘window’....

Here’s to another enjoyable year....

This is not a whinge but an observation.

Why don't the club release the new kit at the end of the preceding season, in early May? Surely the most popular time for anyone to buy a t-shirt (of any kind) is at the beginning of the summer rather than the end. I personally don't wear a club shirt to games but I would have bought one to wear in the summer, and on holiday, but I'm not going to buy one to get maybe 3-4 weeks wear out of it.

Equally, if the shirts are available to buy immediately, rather than on pre-order, there would be many more impulsive purchases at, say, the final few games of the preceding season. There were over 3,300 fans at the home game against Ebsfleet on the 2nd May - a captive audience of Shots fans likely to invest in a new shirt if they could have purchased one that evening (I, for one, would have).

The current set-up makes no sense on a commercial level and in my opinion, the club are missing a significant opportunity to boost shirt sales.
Nail on Head.
Agreed, and I can assure you that that was the initial plan. Steve Francis began the process in October last year, so it's not for lack of commercial savvy or desire.
At least you tried Steve. Perhaps if you had told us all that was the intention well before now, you and club would have saved yourself all the angst that has now been dished out.

Angst? What angst?

A couple of people wanted their shirt for their summer holidays

Hardly a crisis

See all comments.
In the big scheme not important. But a life lesson is don’t make the same mistakes over and over.
Seems like Steve and others tried to avoid it and that is some consolation I suppose.
Bring on the season so we can stop talking about Tickets Shirts and Strikers. O all apart from the last one :D

Seems like Steve tells us what he can when he can. A press officer can only work with the info he is given, and I can well believe that those upstairs give very little away even to there own staff.

Just to clarify for those who hadn't realised... this is not a one-time-only offer - if you can't collect it on Friday afternoon you can still pick it up on your way to the pub. We just wanted to give folk another option and alleviate a bit of congestion on Saturday lunchtime.

Unless your post was sarcasm, in which case *whoosh*...

Away shirts will also be available for collection and purchase in the JML on Friday afternoon, from 3.30pm-6.30pm.

And then from Saturday lunchtime and every weekday thereafter.

Gosh Steve....clearly you have never used the M5 on a Friday, during the holiday season. It would take me 10 hours to do the round trip....I have decided not to ‘panic’!

What time does the club shop open tomorrow to collect season tickets? And yes I’ve tried ringing the club but think office is now closed !
