I don't get all the hype surrounding Mensah, decent enough player on his day, but that's about it.
You are obviously not ever gonna get a job as a scout. Mensah was pure class for us.

Agree. I think he can be very handy around the National League, League Two and League One. Certainly had many more good days than bad!

When he was at Aldershot, he was in a group of players that bonded extremely well.
When a Manager buys a player, one of the most important features about them is their character, who will they fit in with on and off the pitch.
As you go up the leagues as a "newby" you are seen more of a threat to other players in the squad and not instantly welcomed.
He clearly is missing the comradery that he had at Aldershot, where everyone gets games out of necessity.
When a player is put out on loan and still doesn't get in the team, that is poor management by both the Manager's concerned and to a lesser degree the players agent.
I hope he finds the level he is comfortable with and works his way gradually up this time.

...back at the project, all of us (at that age) would take the opportunity to further our careers as best we could, there are always risks attached. We'd all take the jump he took... but as you said, it's important to find a balance of challenge and comfort

 Whilst I am a fan of Mensah, quite how you come to the conclusion he is Football League (especially League One) standard when yet to be proven is beyond me.

Just how well have the Shots done since he left? As intimated with slightly unfortunate language he had a big part to play in the dressing room and I wonder if that is something we haven't quite recaptured.

Some good stuff in this thread
But I am not sure the skin colour of the group of pals needed referencing - as the point could have been made without that!
Thread edited accordingly
