Going to any matches Saturday?

Post by SvenBoy » Fri Jan 11, 2019 11:33 am

As the Shots have their second successive "Bye Week" just wondering whether anyone is going to "click through a turnstile " anywhere else.
Last Saturday I went to the Crystal Palace v Grimsby FA Cup tie. I was looking at Farnham or Sandhurst tomorrow, but both are away. I have decided on Thatcham Town v Winchester City. Easy enough by train from Sandhurst, and the ground is less than five minutes walk from the station. Also the Swan pub right next to the station is worth a visit.
Does anyone remember the FA Vase game there in 1993. The landlord was very welcoming when we (peacefully) invaded his pub, after being advised by the police not to open!
I seem to remember "Alive and Kicking" being constantly played on the jukebox.

Undy Athletic vs Ton Pentre, Welsh League Div 1. Good football for a fiver with cheap beer in the clubhouse after!

Brechin v Dumbarton.

Crucial six-pointer for Barry Smith who I think is a decent manager and did better at the Aldershot than he gets credit for.

Barry has a thankless job this season. Brechin City has been defeated in 9 of its last 10 matches and has failed to score at all in its most recent three matches. This could be a case in which another truly nice guy finishes last.

Notts County v Cambridge United
£2.00 admission for a big game for both clubs. Lots of good pubs to choose from, but Cross Keys on Fletcher Gate is looking favourite.
