30 POINTS

Post by Preston Shot » Mon Mar 11, 2019 7:33 pm

There’s still 30 points to play for which even in our dire straits is still a lot.

Let’s be positive and a couple of home wins in the next 5 days things could look a lot brighter.

I know it’s a tall order but with the right application it’s achievable.

Hopefully Gary picks the right 11 for tomorrow’s game and build up some confidence all over.

It seems whenever we get a positive result (not often) every other bleeder does as well !!

We need a magic run of results, will dig out lucky socks and wear them again, holes and all even though I'm away on work tomorrow.

One piece of positive news - the Albatross has decided not to make the trip south tomorrow due to weather warnings and my Orient connections crying off too.

I must say I wasn’t looking forward to a long journey home after a likely thumping. At least the Shots have a better chance now...

Just to illustrate what an Albatross I am, this afternoon I decided last minute to have a bet on the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. I dashed round to Betfreds and just got my bet on before the race started. I had a bet on Buveur D’Air to win and Sharjah EW. What happens? Buveur falls at the 3rd fence and brings Sharjah down in the process.😡

You couldn’t make it up....🙄

I thought I’d post a positive post and keep rolling it on until the inevitable happens.

Even at this stage there is still so much to play for.
After another 4/5 games I hope my post is still rolling.

Hopefully someone at the club reads these posts and gets it over to the players what there is still left to play for.

Happy pills are compulsory when you follow the Shots !!!

You need to pop round to the Doctor’s with a darning needle & thread. His socks are apparently in need of repair.

I have just popped the happy pills and looked at our remaining fixtures with those of Havant and Dover.

I reckon we could easily achieve 53 points now which will be enough to save us.

I have taken into account that we will win those 5 games against the teams around us.

Havant and Dover will finish on 47/49 points.

Keep the faith the corner is turning

To put into some sort of context what we need to do, the NL table for the ten seasons since we won it (excluding 09/10 as only 23 teams competed) throws up the following stats;

20th placed team: Average points total 48.6 with the highest being Southport in 12/13 with 54 and the lowest Northwich in 07/08 with 44.

21st placed team: Average points total 46.9 with the highest being Hereford in 13/14 with 51 and the lowest Altrincham in 07/08 with 41.

So, with our current 32 points we are realistically going to need to win 6 of our last 9. If 12/13 is used as the benchmark then we’d need 7 wins and a draw from the last 9.

Taking the optimistic view, it is mathematically possible to stay up and just about still in our own hands.

Short lived thread this one as I genuinely thought we would of got one victory out of those two home games.
Technically 11 points behind now with only 24 to play for.
30 points sounded a lot at the start of this thread and now it’s diminishing fast.

The End
