Worst ever miss

Post by Anon E Mouse » Wed Mar 13, 2019 6:18 pm

Rens from last night has to be up there ?
Would be interesting to see it again. He certainly was appealing for something after. I thought it was trying to cover his embarrassment frankly and I could see no way of a deflection.

I think I saw a you tube clip recently that was the worst open goal miss i’ve ever seen, but it has to be up there in the catogory of easier to score than miss.

Sums up the season and a proper head in hands moment.

Just seen some highlights.

He was a few more yards further out than I originally thought but still an incredible miss to get the ball over the bar from his position!

Ronnie rosential ( wrong spelling) Liverpool at Villa Park 92-93 is the worst I’ve ever seen, only had to roll it in from about 8 yards having beaten the keeper but smacked it against the bar!

This one by ex-Farnborough striker Rocky Baptiste had me in stitches at the time. The reaction of the fans that you can hear is amusing too

I see to remember a home cup tie against Bristol Rovers when Mark Watson (I think) missed an absolute sitter in the dying minutes that would have given us a 1-0 win. We lost the replay at their place, as I recall.

Correct, another one I’ve just thought of is Brett angel for Stockport at the rec in about 89-90, he actually stood on the ball about a yard from goal as he was about to score, we went on to win 2-1 I think!

Good memory ACA we also remembered that miss and thought this one was up there with that incredible miss.

Wouldn’t it be nice to be talking about incredible goals. (John Nutter and Keith Berchin and Will Evans spring to mind)

Should start up a new thread for incredible Shots goals. Was Nutter’s one on 11th September 2001?

I was told that the Rendel miss was actually a clearance from between his legs by the Orient defender, that is why he was arguing to the ref that it should had been a corner and not a goal kick.

Ball came over at pace, defender close by. Not a terrible miss for me.
Just unlucky
