Happy Memories

Post by mountpleasant61 » Tue May 14, 2019 2:38 pm

Instead of having to read all the doom and gloom and bitchiness how about remembering the good things from the past.
My favourite memory is the train ride back from Carlisle after being 2-0 down and then getting a draw.
Everybody was happy and laughing.

Agree with you there Mountpleasant!

I can recall that trip and game and we were all happy and laughing!

More recently when we beat Pompey at home after a draw at their's now that was a very nice feeling!

Gary Abbott's last minute winner to win the Hampshire Senior Cup at The Dell against Basingstoke was a great night especially doing it with 10 men.

A great atmosphere generated by Shots fans that night and not sure if the constant singing and support that night has been bettered by us.

Agree with all of those previous games! Many others of course, one game with the old club that I almost didn't go to due to the excess of Old Years Night was a New Years day game at least I think it was, may be wrong?!) away to Bury (clearly our local derby!). We were absolutely battered all game, had one shot on target when Randall scored I think to win the game! Loved it!

That game was New Year’s Eve 1988, our only away win that calendar year!

Woking - ‘4-0 and you’re live on Sky’ and beating their nine men with a last-minute Darren Barnard.
Stoke.
Terry Brown’s last match (very rare to get to give a manager a warm send-off).
Away games at Torquay and Exeter in the Black Bull.
Cheltenham away with Dean Morgan’s wonder goal.
West Ham away.
Man Utd at home.
Portsmouth home and away.
There was a 6-0 win in a recent season. That was good.

Renewing my season ticket for the first time in years when we re-employed Gary Waddock.
Walked into the Rec with a spring in my step and for 2 years was rewarded with excellent football and 2 play offs.

1982-83 FA Cup 2nd Round Portsmouth 1 Shots 3 (Banton, Briley), Neil Webb scored for Pompey then we lost 0-7 at Swindon in the 3rd round!

Winning 2-1 at Halifax 84/85 - we were 1-0 down on 89 minutes. Think Peter Foley got the winner - pitch invasion!

86/87 Hammering top flight Oxford 3-0 at home including John Aldridge. Bolton, Wolves in the play offs, away win at Colchester, Burnley, Crewe (with David Platt opening the scoring).

Bristol City - all games v them but Carl bleeding Shutt - that bloke I'll always hate, him and David Crown!

Games against the ******** - even the 3-1 Leyland DAF win against them was me made up - my first ever win against them.
