O/t EU Elections next week

Post by Birdman » Tue May 14, 2019 8:58 pm

This isn’t about the candidates as such but about the ballot paper. I do a postal vote and received the ballot paper a few days ago and it’s not like any that I’ve ever seen (or can recall seeing) in the UK before. There are twelve candidates made up of nine parties (it looks like you vote for a group of people from each party, not one individual) and three sole independents. Quite an eye-opener when I’m normally used to seeing 4-5 candidates at most.

Social Media driven fragmentation of politics.
Short term thinking.
Fall out and start a new party.
Many fragments wanting power like in the Middle East and no leading political parties anymore.

with the failure of the political big parties to deliver brexit or anything near it would this not have encouraged the independents and minor parties to challenge the public to make a stand against their arrogance.

Arrogance indeed Ganesh. I live in Farnham (traditional Tory heartland). The arrogant and expectant Tories were the only party who didn't canvass. The rest is history!

Politics is changing, driven by most people feeling disengaged from the traditional parties. It's up to them if they choose to engage again. So far, both the Tories and Labour are choosing not to.

Should be simple enough for people to do so, Steve. Even for those who aren't sure. The party's logo is a clever one: https://metro.co.uk/2019/05/13/brexit-p ... e-9517861/

Faraje and his buffoons look like a good choice if you want further chaos and uncertainty as hopefully theyl put lots of meps back in the Eu for another 5 yrs and looking ahead it will take another 10 yrs before anything changes so our genreration are safe.. If leaving the Eu does ever happen in 20-30yrs time cant see it effecting much as we won't change.

i Think Nigel Farage thought as we had secured brexit that the job was done. He didn’t take in to account the MP’s going against the will of the people.
