I took my wife to a hots game September 84.
She has vowed never to go again.
I sometimes wish I had her resilience 😘
I know the feeling I took my wife (before we were married) to Rochdale away in the eighties, 0-0 draw
and she has never been back
In fairness, it is a long way to Rochdale and it's a bit of a hole!

Rochdale was my first ever overnighter in the north of England August 1990, opening day 4-0 drubbing, it’s a beautiful town, Cornwall of the north, at the station after the game a couple of local squirts tried having a chat with us, big ginger was the first one on the incoming train, they punched the smallest and youngest one in our group, shock!

That’s ‘more or less’ what Jack Howarth said at his first ‘Guest Of The Day’ appearance when he was being interviewed by Graham Brookland. If I recall correctly, it had taken quite a bit of effort to try and find him so that he would be at a pre-match lunch and to watch a game which on this occasion, was against Cheltenham during our time in the FL. My recollection of it was that it was a very wind-affected game which I thought ended 0-0. Checking the records though, it looks like we lost 0-1 or 0-2.

All the best to you and Jean. My pre-match chat with her was always a part of the match day experience.
