So said the late great Bernard Manning.
Yes, he was good though I'm thinking I heard it more recently from a different comedian.

Bernard has many two bob imitators. Jim Davidson being the worst.

One of the finest threads in the history of Shotsweb.

Coaxed my son into joining me for this trip. His football career was resurrected at Chorley but he didn’t quite see it the same way as I did (ie - “defensive masterclass”).

Not quite sure a day trip to Barrow will reinstate “football fanatic” status but he’s giving it a bash.

Surprised to see the depression list is monopolised by northern venues. Fully expected to see Feltham on the podium.

There was a separate list for those of a southern persuasion.

Still, hard to imagine you as a young offender, what?

Hope to meet you up there, Abs - Barrow, I mean!

Found non-SWR routes and 'hotel' is booked.

See, I liked JD. It never crossed my mind that he was imitating another or was in fact, just a poor man's Bernard Manning.

Jim Davidson is my comedy hero and absolute legend.
Right up my street and its a shame we now live in this sad little bubble of a world.

At the end of the day its entertainment but not as we now know it !!!

His Diana Ross joke is my all time favourite.

There is one concert show which we had on tape in the eighties. I think it was recorded at London Palladium. It includes the famous one where they are up the ladder and he is ** *** **** and the Irish airline Aer Fungus!

Chalkie White is on the Underground. I said to him "Don't stand too close or the wind will be too strong, it'll suck you off", Chalkie says "Come on train!"

And there was this line (old Jethro).

"Your bloody son has gone and broken our daughter's virginity"

"Yeah, he's a clumsy f***er, he ruined our tractor last week too"

I have dug through his album discography and cannot find the show on CD though haven't tried DVD- maybe it was recorded from VHS onto cassette at the time?

Do you know this album? I would love to hear it again. If I can find it I will say...

"I'll have a Babycham"

Yes, scalpel date back a week to Friday the 13th old son. That was nice of them. I guess nobody else fancied it that day. Hopefully recover in time for the festive campaign.

Good work Ollie!

We’ll look you out squire.

I see you’ve booked a double. Doreen from Keswick - a different animal since getting that lazy eye fixed...

Grrr  never Ollie please!

I am wondering if any other Shots fans will be in town Friday or Saturday night to hang out with for some pints of Kendal mint cake.

Sorry Oliver!

A two-nighter from Dorset to Barrow, with industrial action to contend with, is a top effort mate.

Consider Barrow away as Step One on a six year plan to bring Europa League football to the Rec.
Looking forward to future blogs: previewing alehouses ahead of Torpedo Moscow v Aldershot for example....

Thank you!

The industrial action doesn't affect me because I am not relying on / using SWR services. I'll be riding a Virgin cross-country!

And because of the length of it, a weekender makes more sense.

If you consider where Bournemouth are now, it really can happen to anyone.

Aldershot away to Grasshoppers in the Europa League - my blog would be international!
