Best hat-trick you saw / Shots or non-Shots

Post by Shot By Both Sides » Sat Nov 30, 2019 9:20 am

Deadeye managed us but never played for us.

But he once scored a hat-trick of penalties and I happened to be at Fratton Park when it happened, in the Full Members Cup against Millwall.

So I guess I've seen something rare and special in football, there.

My pre-match question today is:

What is the best hat-trick you have seen by a Shots player OR anyone else?

Memory is rather hazy but believe a local lad Mark Sandford scored a quick hat trick at home against Hereford during a Christmas period match many years ago.

He didn't play that many games in the end so it will have been a highlight of his career.

Marcus Gayle, coming off the bench in the second half against Kidderminster in 2006 to score his only(?) career hat-trick, was pretty special.

Didn't have anything against dillon, decent players recruited and got us to highest position. An enjoyable period. Shame we didn't really go for it in the last play off game. What happens on the pitch is all that matters to fans/supporters. I know some others will have a different synopsis of events.

Joe Nartey scored 5 vs Bishops Stortford at Borehamwood Wood in 1998(?) including what I seem to remember included an overhead kick from 15 yards.

Grant Payne also got 4 a couple of years later absolutely tearing the opposition to shreds and looked an absolute cut above the rest at Ryman Prem level, sadly got a bad injury afterwards and never quite hit the same heights again.

Jonny Dixon got a very classy hattrick at Ebbsfleet once I seem to remember.

He was too good for step 5

Shot By Both Sides, Couldn't you have named this thread "Hat tricks" or something similar

I saw the name Kevin Dillon and nearly had a panic attack thinking he might be coming back in some role

For the “like of me” 🙄 Colin Garwood scoring all 4 at Stockport on a Friday night sticks long in the mind. Minibus with about 8 of us in went.

Sir, that must be some memory to hold.

Fantastic.

I wonder now where my head lay when that happened.

Most memorable hat-trick for me is always Dave Pucket's back in the late 80's, because it was on his DEBUT v Northampton at The Rec.
Think we won 5-1 that Saturday - great times :D :D

'tis true, might get more punters wiv new-fangled title rather than KD though to my mind he was part (and always will be a memorable part) of our being in that, shall we say, five year spell.
