Frank McAvennie, his last game for West Ham v Notts Forest. Or, how could we not forget Sir Geoff in 1966

Undoubtedly Big Jack at Brentford one mid-week night.

Deadeye managed us but never played for us.

But he once scored a hat-trick of penalties and I happened to be at Fratton Park when it happened, in the Full Members Cup against Millwall.

So I guess I've seen something rare and special in football, there.

My pre-match question today is:

What is the best hat-trick you have seen by a Shots player OR anyone else?

#COYS
For the “like of me” 🙄 Colin Garwood scoring all 4 at Stockport on a Friday night sticks long in the mind. Minibus with about 8 of us in went.
Sir, that must be some memory to hold.

Fantastic.

I wonder now where my head lay when that happened.
Yes, a memorable Friday off work, a rare Shots away win & the usual sprint to the minibus 😂. We even managed a few in The Stormy Petrel at Alsager on the return leg!

Grant Payne on debut couldn't believe woeking had let him go.
I’m sure that I read on Cardsboard a year or two ago that they needed the money. Pre Chris Ingram times maybe?

Crikey Hack, that brings back memories. I was on that trip too. A few fine glasses of Robinson’s Old Tom in The Grapes prematch too. Plans modified post match from staying local to Alsager after some locals “took a dislike” to me on exiting the ground!
Happy Days

Most memorable hat-trick for me is always Dave Pucket's back in the late 80's, because it was on his DEBUT v Northampton at The Rec.
Think we won 5-1 that Saturday - great times :D :D
I recall that game too, 88/89 season.
Claridge our other scorer and then 2 own goals, one for each side.
Good high scoring fixture against Northampton that season.
Lose 6-0 away
Win 5-1 home

James Hayter, Bournemouth v Wrexham,2004, hat-trick in 140 seconds, world record. Beat that!

I would go for Joe Nartey v Bishops Stortford at Boreham Wood (like Sugrue's head butt) or Trevor Senior and Dale Banton both scoring hat-tricks against Rochdale in a 6-4 win.

Would Glen Johnson three penalty saves count as a hat trick

Macca v Chester 87/88. The game where he scored his third and held up the three fingers in front of the EB.

They let him go because he was injured, as we found out.

If memory serves me right, Tony Calvert against St Albans in 1993. 1-4 down with about 15 minutes to go, won 5-4 in the fairly pointless Billy Minter Trophy but the buzz at the ground in those days will never be repeated. If I'm wrong about the hat-trick it was still a memorable game!

What about the two hat tricks (Roy Young and Gary Abbott) against Boreham Wood in the Ryman Premier, 1998?

I think you're right. Think we still lost 6-5 on aggregate despite the comeback win in the second leg.
