AJ Eyoma leaves

Short term contract has expired, so no real surprise here seeing as he hasn’t been in the match day squad for quite a while had some very few brief good moments but this is the right decision for all parties.

Hopefully some budget has freed up to bring a couple in.

To be fair, never noticed he’d arrived.

No loss, too many similar players in the squad.

I was suspicious when none of the new summer signings had their length of contract announced in the summer.

Wonder who else is on a six month deal and is on the way?

Shields?
Santos?

Need some reinforcements really now.

Minus Mullings and JBA I make that 16 senior players (Inc. an unfit Fowler)

High time one of us stepped forward to offer services. Er, anyone under thirty here?

Can't we just give a contract and pay Alfie Wittingham and get him on the pitch. Shown great flair and wants to be a shot through and through.

We need James Rowe and Alex Finney to get back ASAP.

Only one or two, I would guess, based on how excited we get by any mention of Jack Howarth.

Therein lies the problem. Our fan base is getting older and disappearing. Yes there are some young shots supporters but not enough.

Disagree there. Everyone gets older but while many old'uns still go to away games as well as home games, I have seen enough evidence of more youthful following, particularly in the home terrace and with an upturn in fortunes I believe that ATFC will attract decent support for years to come.

The balance will always be more middle aged and older fans than younger fans because that's just the nature of things at our level of football (maybe even football at all levels), whats important is that the older numbers are maintained both by attracting younger supporters and the middle aged to come in the first place. Its not easy to achieve but as SBS says in his previous post there are certainly a good number of younger supporters coming to games which should keep the base level of support fairly static over the coming years.

This subject has been pretty much done to death but to repeat it once more Its getting the extra numbers of younger supporters in order to substantially increase the attendances that's the challenge and that wont happen until we get consistently winning on the pitch and the new better facilities that the stadium development will bring, both are important as each on their own will make coming to games more attractive. Get them both right and we will potentially see a very strong increase in numbers attending.
