Indeed, think I was on cider and/or snake bite which would explain things

That ferry took 9 hours from Southampton and I was with Arnie, very messy night that was!

Such happy times, the first season in the conference and the first in league 2 were such enjoyable voyages of discovery. Sides playing with no real pressure and over achieving. Almost as good as winning the leagues the season before. Let’s put the finances of those seasons aside and the resulting hangover for a moment.

The first season in the conference was perhaps my favourite ATFC side of all, Bull, Sills, D’Sane, McLean and Warbs.

That side for me deserved promotion for their attacking style of play. All under Sir Terry of Brown.Possibly my favourite Shots manager.

First season back in the league was also wonderful. Great attacking football. Aldershot were back. A young team making its mark.

Seems appropriate in these tough times to look back fondly and take what happy memories we can

This Bradford City game is the one that always comes to mind when I think of our first season in L2. A sunny day, good atmosphere and two superb goals that ‘got you out of your seat’, the first by Ben Harding the second by Scotty Davies.

Wycombe at home in our first season back in the league? May be wrong but weren’t they top of the league and we beat them 3-2?

Wouldn't underestimate the midfield of Miller and Challinor too, also was a big fan of Dean Hooper who was a brilliant right back when he didn't get sent off!

Dean Hooper was hard as nails, I remember him being described as ‘built like a brick sh1t house’, tough as old boots.

On the other flank, Chewy, took Conference football in his stride. What a player.

Another thing, is it me or were sides a lot more attacking in those days? Maybe rose tinted glasses but don’t see many sides with 10 behind the ball.
