Re: Former players etc
Gyliano Van Velzen has scored to give Telstar the lead in this afternoon’s home game against NEC Nijmegen. He’s a regular in the Telstar team playing in the Eerste Division, the second tier of Dutch football.
EDIT: Gyliano bagged a second goal later in the game as Telstar ran out 5-2 winners, moving them up to 7th in the table.

When we beat Sutton United 1 - 0 in the FA Cup in Oct' 2015 Rhys Browne was our goal scorer. Richard Brodie was our centre forward on that day and Barry Smith our manager.

Queen of the South's Connor Shields has told the "Daily Record" he can't wait for the Scottish Cup clash v Queens Park being played at Hampden Park tonight. The game is live on BBC Scotland. 7.45 KO

I hate to spoil Connor's reverie, but Queens Park games are played at Lesser Hampden, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesser_Ha ... 52448).jpg, adjacent to the considerably more impressive Hampden Park national stadium.fredandballou wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 7:26 pmQueen of the South's Connor Shields has told the "Daily Record" he can't wait for the Scottish Cup clash v Queens Park being played at Hampden Park tonight. Lesser Hampden is a nice venue, but as football "theatres of dreams" go, probably on a par with Alton FC https://www.google.com/maps/uv?pb=!1s0x ... DHoECBgQAw (or maybe Badshot Lea).

Queens Park are currently back playing in the main stadium while a re-development of Lesser Hamden takes place.

Well, yes, I considered that might be so. I know that QP do occasionally use Hampden Park itself in exceptional circumstances. And why not because they do own it, after all! But Hampden Park with no bugger in it is I'm sure every bit as atmospheric as Lesser Hampden with no bugger in itchimpster99 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 7:46 pmQueens Park are currently back playing in the main stadium while a re-development of Lesser Hamden takes place.

In a long life, Old Bob has been lucky to enjoy two matches at Hampden Park: 1973, Scotland 0 England 5, attendance 48,470, England show Scotland how to play football on a slippery, snow-covered pitch, the balance and poise of players like Mick Channon and Alan Clarke contrasting starkly with the inability of Billy Bremner, Kenny Dalgleish, Martin Buchan et al to remain vertical; 1979, Dundee United 0 Aberdeen 0, attendance 27,173, dour League Cup final encounter on a drab December afternoon between two teams destined to raise the standard of east of Scotland football to undreamt of heights under the leadership of messianic managers Alex Ferguson and Jim McLean.

Connor was made man of the match with his goal and two assists in Queen of the South's 0 - 3 win.

I’m sure if, say, Wealdstone were using Wembley we’d get a bit excited about playing there. Connor fulfilling a childhood dream, in his own way...

Wrong.... the Scottish Football Association (SFA) completed the purchase of the stadium in 2020. Queens Park use the stadium during the time it takes to upgrade their new ground.

Ah, OK, well ... I stand corrected. Let us say they used to own it. That's old Bob's problem ... living in the pastA Shot from Wales wrote: ↑Sat Jan 09, 2021 9:24 am‘’Well, yes, I considered that might be so. After a contractual dispute with Kettering Town Dan Holman has parted company with the club and has decided to hang up his boots. Dan is now about to launch a six-week mindset academy called Goodman.
