My 1979 'Guinness Book of Soccer facts and Feats' by Jack Rollin suggests that The Rec was the 5th= largest pitch in the League at that time, measuring 117 x 76 yards, the same as Notts County, and Leeds United

Larger pitches were
Carlisle 117 x 78 yards
Doncaster 118 x 79 yards
Man City 119 x 79 yards
Northampton 120 x 75 yards

Orient with 110 x 80 yards, was the widest (and squarest ), while Swansea at 110x70 was the smallest.
