Does anyone want Searle to stay?

Post by Danny's Shovel » Mon Sep 13, 2021 4:18 pm

On the Searle out thread not one person wants Searle to stay....... this is unusual where i didn't use a poll, but just asked for simple stay or go,

Even Richard Petty hasn't been on here last few days, trying to back up his claim that we are going to be better this season, he reirriated this point 4/5 days ago, for such a sensible poster as he is, it was certainly a strange statement,

Anyway not many managers survive very much longer in a job when the whole fanbase wants them out, if lose tomorrow, he could easily go before the fans forum to save him the wrath incoming i suppose is a polite way to put it.

Anyone backing that incompetent charlatan needs to reassess their head. I fully accept he isn't wholeheartedly to blame, he wouldn't have been given that contract elsewhere and the fact he ended with a 2 year extension is beggers belief.
The BoD need to be held accountable for their part in this mess the same way Searle also needs to be held accountable for his inability to do his job to an acceptable level.

Danny Searle signed some good players last season.
He had his budget cut and couldn’t keep them.
People who say money doesn’t matter - absolute baloney.
There are winners and losers in football and the winners have the money. Those with big budgets are quite rightly expected to win against the likes of Aldershot.
Yes I want Danny to stay.
I do however want a board who can deliver a competitive budget.
Budget cut after budget cut is not acceptable.

Unfortunately there is no money, and as I understand it, our debts are written out on the proviso that we keep solvent. More pertinently, DS has spent his meagre budget on sub-standard technical players, totally unsuited to this league.
I can’t see any way out of this mess ; another manager would struggle with this squad, and be unable to reinforce without funding.
It’s too late, the writing was on the wall when DS failed to learn and modify his ethos after the first season. Conclusion, reluctantly, stick it out and try to avoid relegation.

How much more was Sutton's budget than ours last season?

Do you honestly believe we have the lowest budget in this division?

If Searle can not manage at the agreed budget, he should have walked away.

They have appointed a no-hoper novice because he does not have the clout to demand a bigger budget - here or anywhere else.

Are you sure?
Bearing in mind our final league position and the woes I heard when listening to Rob, particularly the final few matches, not sure too many would fit the 'good' category.

I don't want DS to stay given the situation we are in. I think he's a decent guy with some great ideas and wants to do about things the right way, and generally does. But without a healthy budget that's a luxury. Our situation requires a fiery, passionate, us-vs-the-world character who will focus solely on the job in hand and can get this meagre squad moving.

Indeed Macclesfield won the league with a relegation/lower league budget

Barrow won the league with a relegation/lower league budget

Sutton must be one of the lower payers in the league.

If Danny isn't sacked after the stuffing we are going to get tomorrow, it proves he is

a) delivering what the chairman expects/wants
b) we have no cash to pay him off
or c) all of the above!

We are getting even less cash due the lack of a change. Maybe approx 10k a home game.

We will no way get stuffed tomorrow...... Southend have won 1 of 5 league games and are playing poorly!

We will be in the game as always, but still lose by a 1 goal margin i reckon.
