I will be there tonight but again not expecting much but you never know. Part of the reason for travelling is to revive some of those old Football League and Cup memories and trips to Roots Hall in front of 8 or 9 thousand, always a good atmosphere there in that stand with the barell roof which is similar to the East Bank. Had a soft spot for that place ever since my first visit back in November 1972, a 2-0 win for the Shots in the FA cup 1st round. We went out in the next round losing 2-0 to Watford at Vicarage Road, great memories though and a whole world away from where we are now sadly.
Good on you Weybourne- reviving those memories. That 2-0 FA Cup win you mention would have been when Southend were in Div 3, with Shots in Div 4. Happy days eh? Now look at us. Bottom of Div 5.

ps..I was unlucky to be at Roots Hall the night we lost 1-10 in the Freight Rover game...
Just for you Weybourne- here is the Shots line up from that FA Cup win in `72... Godfrey, Walden, Walker, Joslyn, Dean, Grummett, Brown, Stenson, Melledew, Bennett, Brodie. Att- 7,377. Goals- Melledew & Brodie.

Watching Aldershot is not easy on the eye I know, but keep on posting those memories of yesteryear Weybourne.

Southend was our first away win in our last spell in the 3rd tier in 1987, glyn Riley

Yes indeed...then Southend beat us 1-0 at the Rec over Easter to leave Aldershot nervously twitching about relegation.

Glyn Riley..Β£10,000 from Bristol City....sorry, would much rather have kept Bobby Barnes. It was his transfer to Swindon, which allowed Aldershot to sign Riley & Steve Berry, who went on to be eventually Transferred to Northampton- where he became a team mate of Bobby Barnes

Shots have been very well backed to win tonight with bookies.

Bet 365 yesterday were 1/2 Southend, 11-4 Draw, 6-1 Shots

Now, Evens Southend, 12-5 Draw, 12-5 Shots.

That is some market move for the Shots to come in from 6s to just over 2s in day, usually means when this happens alot of money has gone a Shots win from somewhere and they will put up a good show and go close to winning.... Lets finally hope so!
That Β£10 Harry put on has crashed the market!

Maybe we could be looking at a Rushden and Diamonds situation when the bookies didn't know the entire first team weren't playing as they hadn't been paid for months and the under 18's took the field.

I loved the price I had that day 😊

Just to add i'm not going, i just posted the prices for the game, that's the betting prices Multishot not the admission prices.

Also, i've no problem with paying Β£20 per game adult home game, but won't be going as said until something gives with the club.

Yeah i remember this, time i knew about this the price on R & D have plummeted, once Weymouth lost this game 0-9, think they soon went bust or administration etc.

How will he spend the Β£30 if we win?

Massive respect to anyone fighting the M25 to go there tonight. I will be sat in my corner of Wales seeing goals go in during stoppage (as usual) but would be delighted to be very wrong.
