Covid Jabs in football

Post by Aldershot_Rob » Fri Oct 08, 2021 2:57 pm

Thought this was an interesting read...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/58806500

I'd have thought a requirement to have the vaccination would be mandatory within close contact sport.

Very disappointing report. Makes you wonder what the reasons are for over 50% of Premier League/Football League players refusing to have the Covid vaccine to stop the spread of the virus when the vast majority of the UK adult population have been vaccinated. Could it be that many of the players roots are from overseas countries where the people from these countries have been misled by false reports about the side effects of the vaccine. Why are FIFA for some reason looking for an alternative to the vaccine to accommodate these players?

I read somewhere that a ‘Christian Eriksen was double jabbed’ theory has reached a few of the players and they’re worried about having heart issues.

I would be interested to know the figures of other elite sports people. London marathon for instance.
I do a lot of running and whilst I might not be an elite runner by any stretch, I cover a fair distance and my intensity and HR levels are high for that period of time.

It does seem a shame that once again footballers seems to have the 'them and us' ruling once more.

Its called Human Rights.
They have every right to refuse the jab.
I’m sure they test every week in a close contact sport.

Is that a serious comment? You don't know anyone who has had a COVID jab?! I bet you do.

Imagine if this was happening in 1973 ...."And Hereford United goalkeeper David Icke says he's refusing to have the jab because...." :D

The majority of people I know have had the jab but I do know a significant number of people who are refusing it. At the end of the day it is down to individual choice and I'm not falling out with anyone based on their decision. I accept it, respect it and carry on as normal.

Over 90% of the over 18's have now had their jab so Reg's corner is way off the mark with his suggestion of 50% or less.

I only two people personally who have not had the jab. Like you Triggers Broom I wont fall out with them over it as it is their right to make that decision no matter how much I might disagree with it however it does make me a bit more wary of close contact when I am near them.

Bring in vaccine passports for night clubs and that should change the minds of quite a few of these highly paid selfish footballers. Secondly football managers should tell them either get the jab or look for another job. Saintly Gareth should set a leadership example, a quality that he is always so keen to claim.

Why would anyone NOT want to have it.

Lots of you would never have been born if my generation hadnt had dozens of jabs in the 1950s and 1960s for a great variety of infections.

A rather pitiful post ... typical of the unthinking Thatcher's grandchildren generation, always on about "rights", never a thought for responsibilities towards others.

There are more people in the world than you, One Shot (in spite of your moniker).

I try not to be too critical of other posters, or disrespectful of their point of view, but this post is just sheer tripe and deserves to be rubbished.
