Southend approach Chesterfield in an attempt to persuade Rowe-the-furlough to switch clubs.

Funniest thing I have in read in a long time. No money to spend not a chance of him going there. Wish he would so we can see he really is not a good manager and is just after clubs with money

Chesterfield turned down the approach anyway.

Would be a good opening for Danny Searle, manager or assistant.

Don`t you think that Southend have suffered enough.

So was mine OB.

I do find it curious that JR the player has no social media presence. He must be the only professional footballer not to be on Facebook or Twitter, at least not that I've seen!

This might be controversial but I think Rowes natural level might actually be above ours. A playmaker who would benefit from better movement from his teammates, better pitches and more time on the ball.

He just didn't stand up to the "rough and tumble" of the national league, and I can only see him being even less effective further down the pyramid.

Not James Rowe specifically, but I think you have a point that a hugely talented player at our level might well be deemed as useless by us , rather than the fact it's the rest of the team that's useless. I remember watching Juninho when he went to Bryan Robson's Middlesbrough ,he was making runs to vacant areas that no one passed to until there were about 5 defenders surrounding him and he made runs and passed into oceans of space that any half decent co player would have ran into for a deadly attack. Nobody did, so it looked as if he wasted the ball. I remember once reading about Harry Gregg or someone-a First Division player all their career-getting offered the Oldham manager job in Division Four and on first watching them said "What on earth are they trying to do ?" I saw Ian Rush play for Chester just prior to his Liverpool move and wondered what Liverpool had seen  It's a funny old game !!
