Connor Shields came on in the 73rd minute for Motherwell yesterday in their Scottish Premiership tie at Celtic but he could not force a goal past keeper Joe Hart and Celtic's first half goal won it for the home side.

I never understand why a manager says/does this when it was them who signed the player!

Well, Statto, Harry was signed by the manager in the hope that he would break into the first team but I'm very sure he knew at the time there were no guarantees. Even Alex Ferguson managed to sign Juan Sebastian Veron. He didn't do so thinking he would be a flop. So I don't really understand what it is that you don't understand

Never understood why they kept Harry and farmed out Nouble on loan!! For me only Joel had the potential to cut it at that level. Mind you, Joel seems to have gone off the boil after a really decent start. I can see them both heading back south soon.

With Joel's imminent return to Livingstone Arbroath manager Dick Campbell has said this week in Arbroath's Courier newspaper that Joel has been magnificent during his loan spell with the club adding that his close control skill with the ball at his feet had been most effective for such a big man. I'm looking forward to seeing Joel in the Scottish Premiership highlights programme on BBC TV Scotland in the new year.

Ten minutes after the final whistle at Arbroath this afternoon fans favourite Joel Nouble was still to be having selfies with his adoring followers. Arbroath battled against the haar coming in off the North Sea to win the match and go top of the league.

Following his debut against Boreham Wood last week, Jermaine Anderson has joined the injured list at Woking and missed their Surrey Cup and FA Trophy games. It remains to be seen if he will feature against the Shots over Christmas.

Well, Old Bob, I would counter that by saying, surely a manager doesn't sign a player "hoping" that he will break into the team? It sounds as if the manager is making an excuse rather than saying "I made a mistake".

However, I don't wish to get drawn into a long debate, so I will respect your opinion.
