Trophy-Tied Players

Post by Mick Earls Fan Club » Fri Jan 14, 2022 5:27 pm

Alfie Saunders cup tied having played for Fannyburger in an earlier round.

Anyone know if Josh Fawole or anyone else in the squad might be cup/trophy tied?

+ Of course Wagstaff played at RB in place of Alfie v Kingstonian so can't play for Bromley tomorrow.

Josh Fawole only played in league games for Farnborough.

I do think allowing Alfie to get cup tied was a schoolboy error.

A bit harsh, Searle would have been in charge for us when Farnborough played their trophy game, and may have had no intention of recalling him in the way MM did, as he had faith in Fowler and Ox at RB. MM had no control over that.

I also cant imagine any supporter expecting MM to recall him and throw him straight in against Grimsby, let alone for him to thrive and actually hold down a first team spot. I think we were all surprised by that move at the time.

Just one of those things, we should be grateful we have discovered a young hungry talented right back who will only get better and better.

The trophy game that Alfie Saunders played in was on 30 October 2021, a month plus after Mark Molesley took over.

Fair enough, I was too lazy to do the research, so poi t taken, but still, I'm not sure anyone expected Alfie to be in demand by MM this early in his career. Which is all a positive in my eyes

Lack of forethought
